Handpainted collage using gelli papers on a repuposed framed canvas.
It gives me so much joy to rescue repurpose items to create beautiful art, and makes them much more affordable too! One of my favourite artistic discoveries lately has been my gelli-press, and I love using it to create art prints and collage paper. I have used it anto create this collage. The challenge in this painting was to make it out of scrap materials. The canvas and frame were thrifted and restored, the papers were all from scraps destined for the bin. Each has been carefully cut to shape and bonded into place, and the whole artwork is then protected with a clear gel coating.
